Lore Soul Thieves, are demons. Once they were humans, but they have been punished by the Gods for an extremely evil deed. As punishment, their heart and their ability to feel emotions were removed. The heart was turned into crystal and placed back in their chest, to prevent them from dying. They are technically already dead, so they do not age. The only way to kill them is by removing or destroying the crystal heart.
